About
South Bay Music Conservatory began humbly, with lessons in a park in Redondo Beach. But its roots stretch back further—to the long drives home after teaching with Harmony Project and Youth Orchestra LA, where founder Emily Moore dreamed of creating something of her own. And if you trace it back even earlier, the vision for a music community was planted in Emily’s heart from the very beginning. As a young musician, she spent countless hours in lessons and ensembles, watching her older sister play the cello, and attending live concerts. She learned early on that magic exists wherever music is made—a belief that continues to shape the Conservatory today.
There is power in music, that much we know. There is power in community, something else we know. And to invest in a child is to invest in our future.
We all need safe places to land and teachers to help us rise to our greatest potential. Every week at SBMC we hold lessons, group classes, masterclasses, and community events. We have tiny children playing even tinier violins and adults picking up an instrument for the first time.
We are building a culture that reflects our highest priorities:
• Creating a space for our students to thrive- musically, artistically, socially, and creatively
• High expectations and joy in the process
• Excellence in teaching
• Community and family-based events
• Ease of structure and communication
Our students consistently earn scholarships, place in competitions, and excel not only in music but in life. At SBMC, we are cultivating focus, consistency, and problem-solving skills. We are nurturing children who grow into adults that carry a lifelong love for the arts.
Bio
Founded in 2021 by violinist and educator Emily Moore, South Bay Music Conservatory began as a one-teacher studio with a vision for combining high-level artistry with a warm, supportive learning environment. What started small quickly expanded into a thriving community of students and teachers, now offering private lessons, group classes, and performance opportunities in strings and piano.
With a team of accomplished musicians—many trained at the world’s top conservatories and active as professional performers—SBMC provides rigorous, nurturing instruction that inspires confidence, discipline, and creativity in every student. From young beginners to advanced players, the Conservatory is dedicated to developing musicianship while building community through recitals, outreach concerts, and workshops.
