SMALL GROUP CLASSES
at SBMC

Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello

Ages 3+

Participation in private lessons required. Adults & pre-twinklers exempt.

What Will the Classes Look Like?

Small group classes at SBMC are a fun, supportive way for students to make friends, strengthen their musical skills, and experience the joy of making music together. These classes help students stay engaged in their musical studies while gaining extra support—and learning how to thrive in group settings.

Each small group class is unique—shaped by the age, level, and interests of the students in it. That means no two classes are ever exactly the same!

👥 Ensemble & Repertoire

Think traditional and Suzuki-style group classes, with a focus on ensemble playing, tone development, and pieces from the Suzuki books. Playing together builds confidence and community.

🎼 Musicianship & Theory

Some groups may dive into music theory, ear training, or creative listening games to build a strong musical foundation—always tailored to the group’s age and experience.

🎧 Creative & Career-Focused Tracks

Older students might explore music production, recording, or even the business side of being a musician. We’ll shape the group around their passions and goals.

🎻 Adult Classes = Chamber Music Magic

Have you always dreamed of playing chamber music? Whether you're brushing off an old instrument or starting fresh as an adult beginner, this is your space to play, grow, and reconnect with music.

🎲 Fun, Fresh, and Totally Custom

Sometimes, we make it up as we go (in the best way!).

  • Chord Wars

  • Scales Bootcamp

  • Irish Fiddle Tunes for Fiddle-y Kids

  • Adult Chamber Music and How to Be a Beginner Again

Our goal? To create inspiring, challenging, and connected group experiences—whatever that looks like for your students.

“Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel. If we are to hope for a society of culturally literate people, music must be a vital part of our children’s education.

How It Works

All private lessons students are encouraged to participate in small group classes. Every semester, families have the opportunity to indicate interest. We will place all students into small groups of 2, 3, or 4 students matched to age and level.

Scheduling

Once placed, we will work with you to coordinate scheduling.

Fall/Spring Semester - 16 weeks

Summer Semester 6 weeks (9 week session*)

*Summer semester is deliberately scheduled at less session to account for travel and other commitments.
